Venerable Drubpön Ngawang Tenzin is the European representative of the Drukpa order which is located in the French Plouray. He regularly visits all of the European centers and since many years promotes the distribution of the Drukpa teachings in the West. He visits Hamburg for the fourth time.

His characteristics

Drubpön Ngawang is a lama of the Drukpa order, which has its origin in Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of universal compassion, and was founded by Tsangpa Gyare Yeshe Dorje, the First Gyalwang Drukpa. The order became famous for the purity, simplicity and asceticism of its followers and the depth of its spiritual teachings. Features which especially characterize Drubpön Ngawang. He is held in high regard and revered by everyone who knows him for his great kindness and exceeding patience.

Also H.H. the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa, who was asked by Drubpön´s Guru Thuksey Rinpoche to accept Drubpön Ngawang as his student and to teach him meditation, considers him highly. He was prophesied : “Ngawang will never deceive you and he will surely serve you as he has served me.“ Then at the beginning of 2007 H.H. has raised Ngawang Tenzin into the position of a “Drubpön“, which means as much as “Perfected Master of Spiritual Practice“.

Venerable Drubpon Ngawang Besuch Herzsutra

H.H. the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa about him

H.H. has clearly stated His appreciation of Drubpön Ngawang: “If you like, I am the only witness of his so positive life with our Guru. His tolerance, humility, his understanding and his endurance in fulfilling the wishes of the teacher, everyday, without questioning, fulfills me with deep appreciation“.

And H.H. continues: “We call him Ngawang Chenpo as Chenp means big in Tibetan. I think, he has an enormous space inside of him which, when he was younger, allowed him a wonderful time with his Guru, the late Thuksey Rinpoche. He served him for more than 15 years, day and night. Most people have no idea of how hard, emotionally and physically, it is to serve a traditional master in a genuine way, unless they have read the biographies of Marpa, Milarepa or other authentic Masters. It is very rare that someone serves a lama in this way. Only truly fortunate people as Drubpön Ngawang can serve their Master joyfully, without rest or doubt. Therefore, I would say that one has to be extremely fortunate like Drubpön Ngawang to serve without mental difficulties”.

A relaxed person

Drubpön Ngawang says about himself, that probably many causes and conditions might contribute to something like that should be possible. For instance some characteristics that should be present in everyone might also have been present in him, like being a basically relaxed human being, and possessing fundamental ethics as well as patience and trust in the Lama. That is how he himself received great blessings.
